We’re still running!

The summer is officially over and the temperature is cooling – running in Hanoi is almost pleasurable again! It’s been a long time since we communicated like this – our Facebook page makes it so easy to let you know about our weekly run meet-ups.

Our Saturday afternoon social runs have started up again after a summer break. This is the ‘bread and butter’ of the RRR – our reason for being – an early evening meet-up for anyone who wants to get out there and run with a group of like-minded people. RRR has been scheduling this for over six years and we have no plans to stop. So if you haven’t been out with us for a while, please come and join us. If you are new to Hanoi but fancy a jog with other runners – then definitely come and meet us any Saturday afternoon in Tay Ho or Ciputra. At this time of the year we meet at 4.55pm and in the darker half of the year we go a little earlier. It’s not uncommon for us to relax and have cold refreshments after 😉 Keep switched on to our facebook page to keep up to date with our run announcements each week.

On Wednesday nights at 7pm we meet at the Syrena Shopping Centre on Xuan Dieu street for a spot of speed training / intervals. This is a chance to take part in some group sprints, to get your heart rate up and improve your overall speed and indurance. The whole session takes under one hour, including a warm-up and warm-down jogs at the beginnning and the end of the session. This is actually a great session for slower or less experienced runners – the sprints are short enough that no-one gets left behind, which means that everyone can work at their own level. Just like our Saturday runs – it’s free to join in – we are a volunteer-led running club.

Every year Hanoi Red River Runners organises a half marathon – our flagship event and also a more casual 10km race. Planning is already underway for the next installment of these events, and we hope to be in touch in the next couple of weeks with exciting news about this.

In the meantime, get out there and join us!
